The deformation of the German Sonnenschein battery is not sudden, but usually takes a process. The German Sonnenschein battery enters the high voltage charging area when it is charged to about 80% of its capacity. At this time, oxygen is first separated from the positive electrode, and the oxygen reaches the negative electrode through the hole in the diaphragm. Oxygen reactivation reaction is carried out on the negative plate: 2Pb+02=2PbO+H2O+Q PbO+H2SO4=PbSO4+H2O+Q generates heat during the reaction. When the charging capacity reaches 90%, the oxygen generation rate increases and the negative electrode starts to generate hydrogen. The increase of a large amount of gas is that the internal pressure of the battery exceeds the valve opening pressure, the safety valve opens, and the gas escapes, which finally shows as water loss.

With the increase of the cycle times of the German solar battery, the water content gradually decreases. As a result, the German Sonnenschein battery has the following conditions:

(1) The oxygen "channel" becomes smooth, and the oxygen generated by the positive electrode can easily reach the negative electrode through the "channel".

(2) The heat capacity is reduced. Water has the largest heat capacity in the German solar battery. After the water loss, the heat capacity of the German Sonnenscheinbattery is greatly reduced, and the heat generated makes the temperature rise quickly.

(3) After water loss, the ultra-fine glass fiber separator in the battery shrinks, which causes poor adhesion with the negative plate, greater internal resistance, and greater heat generation during charging and discharging. Through In the above process, the heat generated in the German solar battery can only be dissipated through the battery slot. If the heat dissipation is less than the heating capacity, the temperature will rise, which will reduce the overpotential of battery gas evolution and increase the amount of gas evolution. A large amount of oxygen in the positive pole will react on the negative surface through the "channel" and emit a large amount of heat to rapidly increase the temperature. A vicious circle is formed to cause "thermal runaway" and deformation.

Inspection and handling of faults

One set of batteries (3) deforms at the same time, and the voltage shall be checked first. If the voltage is basically normal. The single grid voltage shall also be measured to determine whether there is a short circuit. If there is no short circuit, it indicates that the deformation is caused by "thermal runaway" caused by overcharging. The charging parameters of the charger should be checked emphatically. If there is no overcharge protection or the trickle transfer current is low, the charger shall be replaced.

If the German Sonnenschein battery has little deformation and bulge, it can still be used. However, it should be noted that the charging time should not exceed 8 hours. If the battery bulges, it indicates that there is a lack of liquid inside. You should add 5-10 ml of supplemental liquid before charging. After the battery is fully charged, use a needle tube to suck out the excess free acid, so that the battery will not bulge more.

After the battery is charged, it is almost reported as useless and can no longer be used. When the battery is full and saturated, stop charging. If the battery continues to be charged, the drum will be charged. After the drum is charged, the battery will deform and squeeze the electrode plate inside. The electrode plate will break and collide in one shot, and the battery will not be able to charge and discharge normally. Therefore, the battery charged with the drum will be scrapped and can only be replaced with a new battery.

There are two possibilities for appearance bulge of German Sonnenschein battery. One is caused by long-term overcharging, which causes deformation of battery grid and expansion of active substances; The other is that the outlet of the German Sonnenschein battery is blocked After charging, the gas in the battery cannot be discharged, which is caused by the internal increase of the battery. This situation is very dangerous and may lead to explosion.
